Thoroughbred horse Zipping continues confirming he is one of the best colts racetracks have seen. Now, he won the weight-for-age Group II Patinack Farm Sandown Classic race that took place at Betfair Park in the Sandown Hillside track, with a purse of $ 351,000. He became the first horse to win the Sandown Classic three times in more than a hundred years.
The nine-year-old has, which is owned by Lloyd Williams, showed all season long that he is a strong competitor and he won four races straight. Besides, he is the fourth racehorse in the entire history of horse racing in Australia to win the same races for four or more years in a row. In this way, he has joined Lord, Manikato and Tie The Knot in a select group of winners.
So far, Zipping has won a total of $ 4,531,195 in 46 races in which he has shown fabulous performances. He won 15 races, finished second in three and finished third in seven. In 2010, he ended second in the Cox Plate and was fourth in the prestigious Melbourne Cup. “He is a freak of nature he is just so tough. He will go for a break now and we will probably bring him back in the autumn and let him defend his Australian Cup,” racing manager Nick Williams commented.
Although it is not certain if he will go back to the tracks next year, the truth is that Zipping already is considered one of the best colts in the history of Australian horseracing and he will be remembered as a legendary horse.
