Florida dominates again in Sunshine Millions |
Musique Toujours held off Zakocity at the wire to win the $1 million Classic, capping a day of longshot winners as Florida-bred horses dominated their California counterparts in the third annual Sunshine Millions.
The event includes races in Florida and California.
Musique Toujours, a 70-1 shot ridden by Jorge Chavez, led all the way and won by a neck in the richest of the eight races -- four each at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita. Musique Toujours paid $142.20 to win in the Classic at Florida's Gulfstream Park, while Zakocity went off at 25-1.
Cal-bred Musique Toujours covered 1 1-8 miles in 1:49.17, the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old gelding. His first-place winnings of $550,000 more than tripled his career earnings.
